It seems to me, at the beginning of the convention, that this is a disaster for Boston and the surrounding area. Every single company, every single person that I have any contact with has mentioned how the DNC is curtailing business this week. Some people have gone off for the week, shut down their offices, and instead of the nightmare commutes it looks more like a goast town. I’ve heard esitmates of the millions of dollars this is costing the regional economy. I wasn’t planning to vote for Kerry anyway, but I’d have been even less likely to vote for him due to this idiocy. The only ones that have won are the terrorists. Let’s face it, it’s not in the terrorists standard operating procedure to attack an event like this. Terrorists attack softer targets. A bus full of commuters, for example. The terrorsts have won in Boston in July 2004 without even having lifted a finger.

The Google Ban

Google has banned an SEO company that convinced some its clients to use javascript redirects and place hidden links to doorway pages created by the firm. According to “Googleguy Says” there have been numerous reports of people losing their job for hiring this firm to do their SEO, and rumors are brewing about a lawsuit in the works.
Spammy Javascript mouseover redirects, doorway pages that link to other sites, or both on their clients’ sites, are a good way to get a site removed from Google. Webmasters who use javascript mousover to place text in the status bar do not need to worry about beeing banned

Bootstrapping

Bootstrapping alludes to a German legend about a boy who was able to fly by pulling himself up by his bootstraps. In computers, this term refers to any process where a simple system activates a more complicated system. It is the problem of starting a certain system without the system already functioning.
